The Plan of Salvation

The Problem of SIN

The Bible says that all are sinners.

Romans 3:23 For all Have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.

Romans 3:10 There is none righteous, no not one.

Psalm 14:1 There is none that doeth good.

Sin is breaking God’s law. Have you ever broken God’s law? What about the 10 commandments? If you have ever stolen or lied or took God’s name in vain, you are guilty of breaking God’s law. Sin offends the righteous and Holy God.

The Penalty for SIN:

The Bible says that there is a penalty for this Sin. God is Holy and cannot be approached by anyone that has sin until that sin is dealt with. Even if you have only broken one of God’s laws, God says that you are guilty of breaking all of the laws!

Romans 6:23 The wages of Sin is death. (Death is separation from God for all of eternity)

John 3:36 He that believeth not the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Psalm 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell.

Hell is a real place. The Bible says that there is weeping there. There is fire unquenchable. There are torments and pain and darkness. Those who go to hell will go for all of eternity. There is no exit from hell, even by death!

The Payment for our SIN

God required a blood sacrifice for the payment for our sin. He also required the sacrifice to be perfect. Only One met this requirement—Jesus Christ. There is a reason for Christ’s death. Many people know of the death on the cross, but they do not know why Christ died. As sinners we deserve eternal punishment in hell and a Substitute is needed. Jesus died to take our punishment. The wrath of God was poured out on His Son as the sins of the world were placed on Him.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

The Position Available

You need to be in a position that God will accept. Only Jesus can cover your sins and give you His righteous so that you can enter the presence of a Holy God. Jesus offers to put you in a new position before the Holy God. He wants to save you from the penalty and power of Sin!

Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.

John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.

Mark 1:15 Repent ye and believe the gospel.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast.

Many religious people use the word believe and in some senses have changed the true meaning of what Jesus meant when He said Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. To truly believe is to 1) Accept as fact that certain things are true (the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ) and also, 2) personally receive the gift of life, knowing and depending on the fact that Christ has forgiven you of sin.

Repent means to change your mind. In order to be saved, you must change your mind about what you are depending on for forgiveness of sins and eternal life and trust fully and only on Jesus Christ to save you!

True salvation is not depending on works or membership or baptism. It is changing your mind about that dependence and taking Christ as the only way of salvation.

Do you need to be saved? Jesus is ready to save you right now! Here is a simple prayer that you can say to God, as you depend only on Jesus to save you:

“Dear God,

I know that I am a sinner. I agree with your Word about that. I have done many things that were against your law. I know that I deserve hell. I also believe that Jesus came to earth to die for me. I know that he took my punishment of the wrath of God on the cross. I also believe that Jesus was buried and that he rose again according to the Word of God. I now want to ask Jesus to forgive me of all of my sins. I am depending on nothing but what Christ has done for me for this forgiveness. Thank you for the promise for me of heaven for all of eternity.”
